Jerry Jones’ crazy plan left us with our mouths wide open

Dallas Cowboys fans are not particularly happy after their team was eliminated last Sunday in the Divisional Round by losing by a score of 19-12 to the San Francisco 49ers. The main culprit for most of them is quarterback Dak Prescott, however, the responsibility of head coach Mike McCarthy also has him in the dock.

The great relationship between Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones

That’s the outlook for fans, however, judging by McCarthy’s words at his Thursday press conference, his job security is not on the line now, nor in the medium term, his source is the best, team owner Jerry Jones.

“As far as my relationship with Jerry (Jones), just using his words, we’re in an excellent spot,” McCarthy said. “The partnership that we have, he’s excited about. He told me a number of times this week that he wants me to coach here as long as coach Landry did. And I said, ‘OK, that’s a long time.’ I feel really good about our relationship. I think or ability to discuss and disagree we do a good job of that, and I think that’s important.”

How long did Tom Landry last with the Cowboys?

If the owner of “America’s Team” delivers on those promises, we’re talking big words, because Tom Landry, who is a true Cowboys legend, was the head coach from 1960 to 1988, a total of 29 seasons from the very founding of the franchise until Jones bought the team and put Jimmy Johnson in his place.

The Cowboys, however, have not been able to replicate the success they had with both Landry and Johnson, the first two head coaches of this team and with whom they won four of the five Super Bowls in their glorious history.
