Tuesday, head coach Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and other Chiefs players are talking with the media ahead of their first playoff game. The Chiefs are officially set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are headed to Arrowhead Stadium after mounting a massive comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers, the No. 4 seed and AFC South champions will take on Patrick Mahomes and company. Reid started his comments by talking about how the team’s health faired over the bye week. The Chiefs are almost entirely healthy.
Aside from wide receiver Mecole Hardman who was the only player not to practice in some form as he struggles to come back from an undisclosed abdomen injury. The head coach did confirm that both RB Clyde Edwards-Hellaire and TE Jody Fortson could be designated to return from the injured/reserve list and have started practicing.
WR Skyy Moore looked to be receiving balls at practice after splitting his hand open in the team’s New Year’s Day matchup with the Seahawks. Frank Clark also working after sustaining a groin injury in the final game of the season. Other than a setback for Hardman the team appears to have come out of its time off the healthiest it’s been in months.
Patrick Mahomes started his time with reporters by emphasizing that the team wasn’t overlooking the Jaguars. The Chiefs saw the Jaguars this season in Wk. 10 of the 2022 NFL Season, Patrick Mahomes threw for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns in a game that wasn’t completely clean but always felt secure for Kansas City.
The QB says the team believes Jacksonville is playing with more confidence than when they last saw them. Mahomes also called Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence an ultra competitor for rallying after a bad first half to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round.
